Where are you based?

What do you do (i.e. studying, working, etc.)?
Software Engineer/ IT Consultant.
What are your specialties (i.e. Python development, Javascript development, community organization, etc.)?
I majorly use Python and JavaScript (TypeScript) for Development.
How and when did you originally come across OpenMined?
I first came across OpenMined in 2020 in my former workplace. I was researching privacy tools that could help my team to deliver an in-house document translation application. While we eventually opted for another tool, I was really impressed by OpenMined initiative and “Syft” tool.
What was the first thing you started working on within OpenMined?
Initially, I joined the Writing Team and have written about three articles already, hopefully more to come in the coming year. I also contributed PRs to fix a couple of typos in the Course materials.
And what are you working on now?
Currently, I am contributing both technical articles and more importantly PR to the code base. I benefitted greatly from open source projects, and I am certain that it’s time to give back.
What would you say to someone who wants to start contributing?
Start contributing today, irrespective of the magnitude or volume.
For open-source projects, I strongly believe that it’s the impact that really matters, i.e., helping others achieve meaningful results without reinventing the wheel.
